CHILDREN’S MINISTRY MISSION STATEMENT
To lead kids to encountering Jesus Himself through the Word and by His Spirit...
so that they know and love Him and
to understand their identity as beloved sons and daughters and
to become kids who bring heaven to earth!
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Children’s Ministry Oversight
Ensure that New Joy’s mission and, specifically, the Children’s Ministry mission are aligned and on track in the ministry to children
Ensure Kingdom Kids teachers are empowered, encouraged, and equipped - growing in their abilities to teach the children with love and truth
Oversee selection, recruitment and training of new teachers
Regularly evaluate all ministries from age 1 to 8th grade as to effectiveness, making necessary adjustments to ensure the mission is being upheld
Responsible for the Children’s Ministry budget
Weekly Duties
Coordinate in weekly curriculum planning, working together with teachers (if necessary) to write and plan weekly teaching
Ensure curriculum, teaching materials, and snacks are accessible and provided
Teach Family Day (K - Grade 8) classes once a month
Fill in to teach as necessary
Children’s Ministry Programs (includes but not limited to)
Kingdom Kids classes by age groups
Teacher training, teacher recognition, appreciation dinners, etc.
Children’s summer program (family discipleship-oriented)
Interactive services where children and adults worship together
Special Easter and Christmas events
Teaching parents at baby dedication class
Pastoral Relations (Under the supervision of the Executive Team Pastor)
Be a member of the pastoral team to connect Children’s Ministry to the rest of the church
Empower parents, providing tools and resources so they can disciple their children at home
Reach out and connect with families in the church and communicate vision and purpose of children’s ministry to the church family
GENERAL TEAM MINISTRY RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with the pastoral team to:
Execute our church’s mission and vision
Oversee the spiritual growth of our church
Build relationships with church members

New Joy Church is in our 24th year as a passionate community of devoted followers of Jesus Christ. Our history is accented with discovering the heart of our Father, passionately seeking His presence, and learning how to live out the Kingdom of God on earth as it is in heaven. We are a part of the Association of Vineyard Canada.
Our congregation includes around 40 amazing children from babies to Grade 8 students. We are hoping to add a part-time Children’s Ministry Pastor to our team, who can help build, inspire, and motivate our community to fulfill our calling in God.

ACCOUNTABILITY
The Children’s Ministry Pastor is accountable to God, the New Joy Board of Elders, and the other members of the Pastoral Team.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
We are prayerfully seeking an Children’s Ministry Pastor to add to our team, who:
Loves God and has an active, deep, and intimate relationship with Jesus
Is a disciple of Jesus Christ who demonstrates the fruit of the Spirit
Holds a firm foundation in the Word of God
Has strong and healthy relationships in their life
Holds a strong vision for children to become growing apprentices of Jesus
Holds a passionate vision for the Church
Is closely aligned with Vineyard Canada in theology and values
Has 5+ years of experience in children’s ministry leadership
Delivers engaging and Christ-centered preaching/teaching that inspires action
Is a team player, able to work with the existing team model of board and pastoral leadership for the Church
Has (or is working towards) a degree in theology/education/youth or a related field, preferably from a Christian college/university/seminary; or equivalent from an accredited post-secondary institution to demonstrate your commitment to theological excellence (equivalent ministry training and experience can be considered on a case-by-case basis)

Youth/Young Adults Pastor Search

ASSIST PRIMARILY WITH THESE MINISTRIES
Work with the pastoral team and volunteers to develop and grow these ministries through visionary leadership while modeling a Kingdom lifestyle.
Young Adults
Developing vision and strategy to build up this ministry
Build a community of young adults that desire to follow Jesus together to become maturing disciples of His
Mentoring and discipleship (especially for the young men)
Youth Group
Cultivate relationships with youth, with a focus on building up/discipling them, leading or supporting bi-weekly youth group meetings
Facilitating parenting learning (workshops/seminars, providing resources)
GENERAL TEAM MINISTRY RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with the pastoral team to execute our church’s mission and vision
Preach and teach (on occasion, as needed)
Build relationships with church members
